Abstract

This document is a summary of some of crucial classes I took, as an undergraduate. Here, I will focus on four large courses MKTG307: Consumer Behavior, BUSN410: Critical Thinking Strategies for Business Decisions, ITMG371: Contemporary Internet Topics, BUSN451: Introduction to Business Project Management and my own learning experiences, how they relate to my desired career and my working practice.

Class 1: MKTG307 Consumer Behavior  MKTG307 taught me how to dive deep into the numerous psychological, sociocultural, and emotional variables that affect consumer decision making. In this course, four major goals contributed to my understanding:

  1. Consumer Needs Analysis: With extensive surveys and in-depth interviews, I have been within my capabilities to analyze and decompose consumer preferences and motives. One example is through a deep understanding of data gathered through focus group sessions, I was able to create tailored marketing campaigns that made a real difference to specific segments of the market, something that would help me succeed in almost every marketing role.
  2. Purchase Behavior Analysis: I took a look at many case studies presenting evidence of changes in the buying behavior of consumers driven by economic changes and technological advancements. With the help of this analysis, I started to model and prepare for upcoming trends, empowering me to make focused marketing plans in a changing market.
  3. Implementation In Action: The marketing strategy is directly implemented in group work, we developed and implemented marketing campaign based on psychology. A local organization-focused campaign taught me how to put some analytical concepts into practice and honed my skills to create interesting messaging that piqued the interest of the consumer.
  4. Measuring Marketing Research Techniques: Measured on the market based on my data studies, my research involved qualitative and quantitative research. I was able to demonstrate the potential of statistical analysis to understand consumer signals, which I believe to be central to the strategic marketing decisions and data usage I have to employ.

Business Intelligence Class 2 - BUSN410 Critical Thinking Strategies for Business Decisions

The second course - BUSN410 was centred around critical thinking training to enhance critical thinking skills needed in the management of organisational complex process. The objectives for the course made me grow in many essential areas, such as:

  1. Challenging Assumptions: Being involved in debates, discussions and arguments allows me to identify and question assumptions behind the business terms. In my work that is reviewing strategies to formulate and execute policies, I consider it an invaluable skill.
  2. Analyzing Arguments: How to go through business's arguments carefully; break down the piece of complex ideas and then argue against it. This will only assist me when I am faced with group presentation or stakeholder negotiations or talking persuasively in my new position.
  3. Utilization of Decision-Making Frameworks: Decision-making frameworks helped us to apply different frameworks, such as SWOT or cost-benefit analysis, to cases in our own life study to model an approach and see how structured solutions will help solve an issue. I’ve employed this method, thus far — and it has primed me to approach any future problems with thoughtfulness, confidence, and clarity of mind.
  4. Use of Problem-Solving Skills: Simulations and role-plays were utilized to solve severe business problems, improving my skill in problem-solving. In addition to this, it helps me leverage theoretical concepts in practice since dynamic environments are where there are innovative solutions needed to achieve future success.

Course 3: ITMG371 Contemporary Internet Topics

ITMG371 gave a nuanced take on the evolving role of the Internet in modern corporate practices. I tackled four primary goals that made me realize the following contributed to appreciate something more:

  1. Evaluating Digital Business Models of Different Types:

I researched various digital business models, including B2B and B2C ecosystems, where appropriate. And I analyzed how various markets might use them successfully. Since I plan to pursue a career in digital marketing and require adaptability I need to know about these frameworks.

  1. Cybersecurity 101: Much of the course was just about learning basic cybersecurity principles/guidelines. I discovered that data breach and cyber risk have an important contribution to make when trying to keep consumer credibility and brand equity in a networked economy.
  2. Study of Digital Marketing Strategies: I have made a plan of conducting thorough digital marketing research, adding both SEO techniques to my knowledge, and taking account of social media's interrelatedness with content marketing. Such experience should be helpful at work now that it is one part toward improving an enterprise’s online visibility and participation.
  3. Considering Data Privacy Laws: That means it enables me to think about our legal implications and devise marketing strategies that not only meet consumer rights and privacy requirements. The knowledge it gives me will allow us to make our marketing efforts meet those requirements.

Course 4: BUSN451 – Introduction to Business Project Management

BUSN451 provided me the fundamental techniques for managing new cross-functional projects. I learned from the course of BUSN451 that when new projects are set on course, it is essential to perform in a team approach that integrates all disciplines equally, making all the points in one. It gave me insight into some different application cases for which these could be used. This also guided my judgment as to which of these frameworks best suited me for managing these many different forms of project work and honing my project capabilities.

  1. Building Project Plans: Making project plans with timelines, budgets and allocations of resources were a key to the course. I gained hands-on experience to ensure that projects will be done well on time and within budgets.
  2. Managing Risks: Running the risk assessments during simulations has given me an opportunity to identify project risk as well as mitigation risk assessment and risk management. A key proficiency required to success is in risk management and taking proactive managing risk for overall project success, which is a key to future management positions.
  3. Evaluating Project Outcomes: I did post-project assessments – what worked and what didn’t. Reflecting on this helps to instill a sense of continuous improvement, which will inform my future efforts at project management and my ability to deliver successful projects.
